How online lessons work for young children
1
A free first class to meet the tutor
The free 30-minute first class lets your child meet the tutor and lets the tutor see what your child already knows. You can sit in and ask questions at the end.
2
Short, focused lessons
Classes for this age are 45 minutes: long enough to learn something new and practise it, short enough for a young child to stay focused.
3
The child's own school books
Lessons follow your child's textbook and the school's order of topics, so tuition helps with what is happening in class this week.
4
Explain, practise, praise
The tutor explains one small step at a time, lets the child try it, corrects gently and moves on only when it is secure.
Drawing and writing together on screen
Children write, draw and solve on a shared Conceptboard whiteboard during the call, which keeps them doing rather than only listening. A touchscreen or tablet pen helps young children write, but a mouse also works.
What you’ll be able to do
Finish homework with more confidence and less help
Close gaps in basics such as reading, times tables and fractions
Ask questions freely, without waiting for a big class
Build study habits that help in the Matric, O Level or IGCSE years
Parents know what their child is working on and what to practise at home
These are the aims of the lessons. Progress depends on the student’s starting point and practice, and we never promise grades or results.
